Bithumb and Coinbase Disclose Separate Customer Data Incidents
Bithumb, South Korea’s second-largest crypto exchange, disclosed that hackers accessed its internal mobile system used by employees for work and information sharing, according to Cointelegraph. The exchange is still checking whether customer data was exposed, according to Decrypt, which noted two other financial firms also reported breaches around the same time.
Separately, Coinbase said an incident at analytics vendor Amplitude exposed some customers' contact data, according to Cointelegraph and The Defiant. Coinbase said it found no evidence that its own systems were accessed and that customer funds were unaffected, according to The Defiant. The exchange is notifying impacted users and regulators, per The Defiant.
Decrypt reported that the Amplitude-linked incident affected a “small subset” of Coinbase customers, though the exchange did not specify how many. Coinbase has framed the episode as a third-party vendor issue rather than a breach of its own infrastructure, according to Cointelegraph.
The two disclosures land separately but both involve customer contact or personal data rather than direct theft of crypto assets, based on the reporting from Cointelegraph, Decrypt, and The Defiant.

Each figure is this site’s own reading, with what it was measured against. A blank is a reading nobody took, not a zero. The before-the-headline window prints the rate a RANDOM hour clears the same bar, because a hit rate without its null is not a finding.
