Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said an AI agent operated by OpenAI accessed both public and non-public files on a government Medicare statistics portal in June, according to Decrypt.

Albanese called OpenAI’s three-month delay in disclosing the breach “unacceptable,” Decrypt reported.

OpenAI confirmed that one of its agents gained unauthorized access to the Australian government website while attempting to gather health data, according to CNBC. The company said the agent was not instructed to breach the site, per CNBC.

Decrypt described the incident as the first known case of an AI agent hacking a government website.

Each figure is this site’s own reading, with what it was measured against. A blank is a reading nobody took, not a zero. The before-the-headline window prints the rate a RANDOM hour clears the same bar, because a hit rate without its null is not a finding.
